Chain Saw Regulations and Care

Did you know, that people working in the 'Tree-Care' business, have a worse than 1 in 120 chance of being involved in a serious accident at work in any 12 month period! (Health & Safety Executive).

Tree work contractors must have chainsaw safety certificate - by law. (HSE)

Don't fall foul of the 'knock-on-the-door' contractor - offering to "lop a bit off the top of your trees guv!"

Because of an initiative between the arboricultural trade bodies and the Health & Safety at Work Executive, all professional chainsaw operatives -tree surgeons for instance -should now hold a 'chainsaw' certificate. (Since 5th Dec 1998).

They should also have professional indemnity and third party insurance for at least £500,000 +. Ask to see both.
