This is one of many Violas in a very diverse family. The small-flowered violas are very different to those known as Pansies. Once we unravel the classifications, we will write more.
There are many 'named' varieties as well as countless hybrids, and the names are very mixed up!

As with all Vioas, these small flowers respond quite well to cutting back quite hard if they start to get a bit 'leggy' - especially after the first flowering flush of the year.
Violas are best in full sun, though light shade will also suit. They are a great plat for using in hanging baskets, patio containers and window boxes.
