The deciduous azalea mollis, knap hill hybrids, Ghent etc - are well known for their spring flowers ranging from white through yellows, pinks and reds to rusty orange, also have a fine range of foliage colours in the autumn - as can be seen below..

The image below of Azalea mollis shows this spectacular azalea in full flower - just as the foliage is forming in May/June. Azalea mollis flowers in all colours ranging from white through to deep red.
The deciduous azaleas are much showier than their evergreen cousins and generally hardy Japanese counterparts. See Azalea Mollis Deciduous main page
We make no apologies for listing these as Azaleas - rather than the botanically correct Rhododendrons - for they are universally known amongst gardeners as Azaleas.
These deciduous Azaleas have complex hybrid ancestry. Ghent Hybrids - were bred in Belgium for which we give thanks. Further hybridization was carried out at Knap Hill, and those are naturally classified as Knap Hill or Exbury Hybrids. In my close encounters of both types, I have always found the Knap Hill or Exbury hybrids to have the better scent - especially in the yellows and lighter colours.
