Strawberry Seed Beetle

  Seed beetles cause damage by eating the seeds and also the fruit flesh of ripe strawberries.

Considerable chunks are gauged out of the fruit, and it can look bad enough to be bird damage.

The Strawberry Seed Beetle, live on surrounding weeds, and move on and off the strawberry crop when then need to feed.

No known insecticide, so best to keep areas surrounding free of weeds and debris.

Beetles are approx 1cm long and black. Typical beetle appearance, with shiny shell and feelers at front.
