Jan's Garden in Waterford - Pennsylvania was a bare canvas.

Then she got to work on it, with the result you see below.

My name is Janet Shilling. I live in Waterford Pennsylvania, which is about 20 miles south of Lake Erie. When I moved here there were no flowers.

Some of my favorite flowers in my gardens are Day Lilies. I have over 30 varieties. In August I love all the bold colors of the late blooming plants. Black-eyed Susan, purple butterfly bush, white phlox and orange Echinacea ("Tomato Soup" variety) are really eye catching together!

Every plant I have is easy to care for. No roses here!

The Japanese Maple is the centerpiece of this bed, and is placed in a great position - leading the path around it to a hidden part of the garden.
